MAKING A BID FOR BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT

Encouraging new businesses to consider Birkenhead as an area for relocation is critical to the future commercial success of the town centre. Suggested improvements via the BID will focus on four key themes that together will drive improvement for this central area.

Under the programme, the town centre would benefit from an enhanced level of cleaning and the introduction of a series of attractive features through art and planter and new and improved street furniture, along with a more intense focus on the wider cleanliness of Birkenhead.

Issues of low level crime and anti-social behaviour will be addressed through a number of measures including extra police patrols around Hamilton Square.

An allocated marketing budget will be used to help improve perceptions of Birkenhead and through a year round campaign. Finally, an ongoing commitment to support local businesses will be driven forward through the BID programme that will bring the business community together , taking advantage of collective buying power and cultivating a united business community.

Chris Johnson, Managing Partner at Smith and Sons and member of the BID Steering Group said: “The four key areas of the BID programme will not only offer huge benefits to businesses already operating from the area, but will enhance the proposition to businesses considering a relocation to Birkenhead, which will ultimately benefit us all.”
