19 FEBRUARY AUCTION RESULTS

Smith and Sons first property auction of 2020 saw an extremely busy room reflecting a return of confidence to the property market and the availability of several interesting and realistically priced lots.

Properties for refurbishment once again attracted high demand. A bungalow in Thingwall requiring a full refurbishment programme sold for £172,000 against a guide price of £140,000 and two eight bedroomed properties in Wallasey both saw lively bidding with Martins Lane selling for £163,000 and Waterloo Road achieving £161,000 both against a guide price of £90,000.

Commercial investments in Greasby and Hoylake sold for well above the guide price with local and national investors anxious to acquire high yielding commercial properties.

A single potential building plot in Wallasey guided at £90,000 sold for £120,000 and a four bedroomed detached house in Bromborough in need of some general refurbishment sold for £242,000.

Chris Johnson auctioneer with Smith and Sons said “we were extremely encouraged to see a packed room well before the start of the sale and lively bidding throughout the afternoon on many of the 26 lots. We have raised over 2 million pounds with a success rate of 85%.
